Learning to Speculate: Experiments with Arti cial and Real Agents
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper employs an arti cial agent{based computational approach to understanding and designing laboratory environments in which to test Kiyotaki and Wright's search model of money. The behavioral rules of the arti cial agents are modeled on the basis of prior evidence from human subject experiments. Simulations of the arti cial agent{based model are conducted in two new versions of the Kiyotaki{Wright environment and yield some testable predictions. These predictions are examined using data from new, human subject experiments. The results are encouraging and suggest that arti cial agent{based modeling may be a useful device for both understanding and designing human subject experiments. Reinforcement learning in autonomous robots : an empirical investigation of the role of emotions
This thesis presents a study of the provision of emotions for arti cial agents with the ultimate aim of enhancing their autonomy, i.e. making them more exible, robust and self-su cient. In recent years, the importance of emotions and their assistance to cognition has been increasingly acknowledged. Emotions are no longer considered undesirable or simply useless. Their role in various aspects of...
متن کاملAn Arti cial Market Analysis of Exchange Rate Dynamics
In this study, we propose an exchange market model with arti cial adaptive agents (AGEDASI TOF) and conduct a computer simulation as a study on the arti cial market. First, AGEDASI TOF is compared with a random walk model and a linear regression model in out-of-sample forecasts. The results indicate that AGEDASI TOF outperforms the other models over all forecast horizons. Next, we analyze an ex...

This paper describes results from a specialised piece of visuo-robotic equipment which allows the artiicial evolution of control systems for visually guided autonomous agents acting in the real world. Preliminary experiments with the equipment are described in which dynamical recurrent networks and visual sampling morphologies are concurrently evolved to allow agents to robustly perform simple ...
متن کاملDimensions of Neural-symbolic Integration - A Structured Survey
Research on integrated neural-symbolic systems has made signi cant progress in the recent past. In particular the understanding of ways to deal with symbolic knowledge within connectionist systems (also called arti cial neural networks) has reached a critical mass which enables the community to strive for applicable implementations and use cases. Recent work has covered a great variety of logic...
متن کاملEvolving and Breeding Robots
Our experiences with a range of evolutionary robotic experiments have resulted in major changes to our set-up of arti cial life experiments and our interpretation of observed phenomena. Initially, we investigated simulation-reality relationships in order to transfer our arti cial life simulation work with evolution of neural network agents to real robots. This is a di cult task, but can, in a l...
